The ALLIANCE held a workshop on Realising Children’s Rights – learning through the implementation of GIRFEC at the Making Children’s Rights Real Across Scotland event on 27 May 2021. You can access a document of resources from the workshop by clicking the link above.
In the workshop, they:
• Shared learning from the implementation of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and what it means for realising the rights of disabled children and young people (CYP) and CYP with long-term conditions, their parents and carers.
• Considered what the organisations working with and for disabled children and young people (CYP) and CYP with long-term conditions, their parents and carers see as the priorities to ensure further progress is made to realise their rights.
• Considered what needs to be in place to support the meaningful engagement of disabled children and young people (CYP) and CYP with long-term conditions, their parents and carers as part of the process to realise their rights. (emphasis on accessible communication, time, resource and support)
