Commissioned training - Child protection
Child protection, safeguarding, and getting it right for every child.
Our child protection training - tailored to your needs
While the core documents and responsibilities are shared across organisations each setting is unique. Our expert trainers work with you to ensure the training delivered reflects your own standards, policy, and practice alongside national guidelines here in Scotland.
Each commission is unique in its needs, but as a starting place we offer two levels of training: an introductory awareness raising and response training and a higher level training for managers and leads. Each session can accommodate up to 15-20 participants.
Child Protection Awareness Raising and Response
In line with the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2021 updated in 2023, this course provides participants with key information around the identification and management of wellbeing and child protection concerns. Participants will examine their own role and responsibilities in the child protection process alongside the role of others and will gain a deeper understanding of the current policy, procedures, guidance, and legislation that assist us in the effective protection of children.
Expected Outcomes/ Key learning:
- To be aware of and know how to source the key procedures, policies, guidance, and legislation that can assist us in the protection of children
- To understand what child abuse is, what areas of concern may be around for a child and how to identify them
- To raise awareness of current national and local child protection/safeguarding themes
- To know what action to take if you are worried a child is being abused or is at risk of abuse and what your role and the role of others is in the child protection process
Child Protection for Managers

You will also take a more in depth look at the current local and national child protection themes, policy, guidance, procedures, and practice in relation to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of children.
