New member publication Insight launches

Children in Scotland has today published the first edition of Insight, our new biannual publication exclusively for members.

Celebrating innovative projects and changemakers in the children's sector, Insight provides a unique space to share knowledge and drive dialogue.

As a key component of our refreshed membership benefits for 2021-22, the new publication looks critically at some of the big issues facing children, young people and families and promotes best practice in all areas where children and young people live, learn and play.

Designed by Angus Doyle, it showcases news, features, commentary and project updates whilst introducing book reviews and a focus on visual art relevant to the sector.

In the launch edition we also present a new collaboration with 4th Year Illustration students at Edinburgh College of Art, with Ross Richardson’s paper planes illustration chosen as the cover image.

Commenting on the launch of the new publication, editor Jennifer Drummond said:

“Reflective of the changes in how people consume news, exchange ideas and share progress as a result of the pandemic, Insight was developed in response to the need to reimagine how we communicate with our members and across the sector.

“From the front to the back we want it to encompass our success and our ambition, kickstart conversations, and reinforce the common goal of all those working with and for children, young people and families.

"We also hope it will be valuable in terms of supporting the children's sector workforce with their own critical thinking and continued professional development.

“We are really pleased with the result and we hope our members are too.”

The new publication was created by communications team staff Jen Drummond, Chris Small, Catherine Bromley and Angus Doyle.

Insight is available to all Children in Scotland members.

The 40-page publication will be published biannually every spring and autumn and the first edition is available both in print and in digital formats.
