CHILD PROTECTION GUIDELINES FOR SCOTLAND’S ARTS, SCREEN AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

In February 2019, the Children and Young People’s Panel on Europe published Listen to Us – a report with a range of recommendations for the Scottish and UK Governments.

In 2018, Children in Scotland, Parenting across Scotland and the University of Stirling completed a feasibility study to explore whether the Open Kindergarten model could be adapted to Scotland to improve outcomes for children in the early years.

As part of the organisation’s continuous improvement, and in light of developments in education policy and practice, The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) is seeking to refresh the Professional Standards that were introduced in 2012. The GTCS commissioned Children in Scotland to engage directly with children and young people, specifically on the area of ‘values’ as part of the review process.

Recent years have witnessed an increased understanding of the extent of the palliative care needs of babies, children and young people1, and increased recognition of the need to respond to them strategically at a national policy level.
