New advert urges boys against sharing sexist content online

Sector News

The Scottish Government has launched a new advertising campaign urging boys and young men against sharing misogynistic content online.

First Minister John Swinney shared the avert on social media, adding:

Misogynistic content is spreading like wildfire on social media…

If you come across it online, don’t share it and don’t help it spread

The advert warns that sexist content is “never harmless” and that it affects girls in real life, including ones you know.

The campaign was developed with White Ribbon Scotland – a charity attempting to engage men and boys in preventing violence against women and girls.

The advert will run for five weeks across Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch and Youtube, as well as outdoor advertising.

You can see the advert on the Safer Scotland website.
