Aberlour Children’s Charity Marks 150th Anniversary Year

This year, Aberlour Children’s Charity celebrates 150 years of service.

150 years of provided-care for children, young people and families across Scotland. From its beginnings in 1875 as an orphanage in Moray, the charity has grown in stature and, yet, remained consistent in focus on ensuring every child can enjoy a decent childhood.

The anniversary will allow reflection and a chance to honour what’s been built and delivered over such a momentous time period.

All those years ago, Canon Charles Jupp, founder of the Aberlour Orphanage in 1875, wrote:

Every child has the ability and indeed the right to grow up and flourish in society, notwithstanding the origins of birth

As the charity so eloquently puts it: “brave words that ring as true for us today as they did back then.”

The charity has a range of activities and events planned throughout the year. All of the activities will acknowledge the past by telling the story of Aberlour and the tens of thousands of children and young people that they have support it. They will also recognise the achievements over the past 150 years.

Most importantly, there will also be a focus on future vision. It does not present as just a milestone, but a continued call to action and a recognition that much more work must be done to achieve their goals.
