Sector News

The Scottish Government’s Parent Club has launched a new school attendance campaign which aims to tackle the causes of persistent school absenteeism by focusing on understanding, support, and practical help.

The campaign, which will run from Thursday 30 October to Sunday 30 November, aims to support pupils and their families by addressing the challenges they face, including ‘mental health and social pressures to questions about the value of education.’

The campaign was developed by Parent Club, which was created by the Scottish Government to communicate with and support parents and carers, and consists of widespread advertisement of Parent Clubs updated resources designed to support parents and carers to help improve children and young people’s attendance.

It was created in collaboration with schools, Education Scotland, and government Ministers, amongst others, and the Scottish Government have stated that it ‘resonates strongly with parents and carers, striking the right balance between the experiences of young people and their families.’
