Voices Forum Meeting: Planning to Act
Free member event
About this event
The Scottish Government has proposed new legislation to alter Scotland’s planning system. As members of the Scottish Alliance of People and Places, Children in Scotland have been actively involved in influencing this legislation to ensure that the planning system better meets the needs of children and young people.
The planning system can have a huge impact on children and young people’s health and wellbeing both in the immediate term and as they grow into adults. The built environment can affect opportunities to play, the food children and young people can access, their respiratory health, their physical safety and their access to green space. They will also live longest with the decisions made today, therefore it is essential they have the opportunity to influence them.
As the Planning (Scotland) Bill enters Stage 2, this meeting of the Voices Forum will give our members the opportunity to learn more about the planning system and to feed into our influencing work and ensure that the system is best placed to support children and young people.
