Working it out Newsletters |
As part of a programme exploring children's sector workforce development in Scotland, Children in Scotland will publish a series of newsletters. In this issue, a look at the programme so far; issues raised, and areas of debate embarked on. There is also a chance to consider issues for the future. Find out about the implications of Curriculum for Excellence on the wider workforce, and about how the General Teaching Council for Scotland aims to develop its role, as 'education' becomes a broader term. There is a look at the relationship between schools and out of school care, and about the role of playgroups. There is debate about future regulation of the children's sector workforce. The need to develop Masters programmes in Early Childhood is discussed, and the issue also looks at examples of successful pedagogy pilots, and graduate training for professionals which utilises a common core curriculum prior to specialism. Download a pdf of issue 4 here. This programme of work builds on ideas put forward in the book Working it out: developing the children's sector workforce. |
