Data Protection: getting to grips with updated legislation

It’s always been important for charities to take care when dealing with personal data, whether it’s a donor database, employee records or anything else which involves information about individuals.

The risk of fines and reputational damage is ever present if the correct steps aren’t taken. New legislation due to take effect in 2018 will overhaul the existing regime for the first time in over twenty years, and charities and other organisations should be considering now what steps to take to ensure compliance.

Children in Scotland are delighted that Gillespie MacAndrew will lead this session and discuss the changes including:

  • An overview of current data protection rules
  • The upcoming changes
  • The particular impact on charities
  • Practical steps to ensure compliance.
