International architecture event celebrates innovation in design for children and young people

Where young people learn plays a huge part in how they learn.

That’s the philosophy behind Making Space 2016, an international programme run by Children in Scotland that celebrates excellence in the design of places and spaces for children, young people and communities.

On Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 November the programme culminates with a two-day conference and awards ceremony. The event explores collaborative design, spaces that work for communities, and how to engage young people meaningfully with the design and planning process.

Speakers will include Professor Takaharu Tezuka, creator of the renowned Fuji Kindergarten in Tokyo, who will discuss ‘the best kindergarten you’ve ever seen’, based on his recent TED Talk about how to create a truly inspiring space that enhances children’s lives.
