Making the Best of our Outdoor Spaces

Event Categories: Approaches to Education, Play,

Ref: 1676 - Training workshop
In the current drive to get more children out more often into the outdoors and to see outside as a learning and doing space for children, many of us struggle to know what is best to do, to consider, to develop, in our outdoor spaces, such as school playgrounds, which may be very stark, may be tarmac, may afford little opportunity for planting and growing, may be very prone to vandalism. How can we effect change?

Learning objectives:
  • examine children’s explorations of their environments and of themselves, to better understand what they do and do not need
  • look at what can be done to improve our outdoor areas on a manageable scale
  • get practical ideas of how to make any outdoor space a richer place for children.
