Promoting the participation of young people in decision making
Children in Scotland received funding from the Carnegie UK Trust to undertake a 3 year project aimed at promoting the contribution of children and young people to policy making through involving them in decision making. One aspect of this was to carry out a mapping exercise to create a database of existing groups and initiatives that seek to obtain the views of children and young people.

The Voice of the Child under the Children (Scotland) Act 1995: Giving due regard to children's views in all matters that affect them
The Scottish Executive, CRU Legal Studies Branch funded this feasibility study. It was a partnership project, involving: Rachel Baker (Department of Sociology, University of Edinburgh); Alison Cleland (Napier University); Kathleen Marshall (Centre for the Child & Society, University of Glasgow); Kay Tisdall (School of Political and Social Studies, University of Edinburgh and Children in Scotland).

Family Friendly Work Practices (2002)
Work-life balance is becoming an important part of employee/employer relations. Employees are looking for more flexibility in their terms of employment, while employers are starting to recognise that more family friendly conditions can lead to improved productivity and improved employee retention.

Taking account of children and families in the workplace
Phase Two of this European Commission funded project was completed in June 1998 in conjunction with Training 2000. The aim was to investigate family-friendly public sector employment policies and European legislation in three countries, Norway, Sweden and Scotland.

'What's the difference?' Equality & diversity in Dumfries and Galloway (2006)
Commissioned in 2005 by the Dumfries & Galloway Council, the purpose of this research was to explore the experiences and views of young people aged 12-18 on issues of equality and diversity. It was intended to inform the work of the Council in addressing discrimination where it exists. The research consisted of an online survey, followed by qualitative interviews with young people.
